Francois Guilleux

Dr. Francois Guilleux specialises in creating in-the-moment experiences that help leaders and leadership teams see themselves and their possibilities in new ways. He blends his 30 years as an experiential outdoor education professional with cutting edge leadership theory and practice to create experiences and programs that challenge leaders to question who they have been in service of who they are becoming.

Francois’ love for leadership formation and the wilderness converge in his deep resume of guiding people on adventure travel expeditions around the world. In these extra-ordinary contexts, clients practice outsight, experiment with new leadership behaviors and grow in wisdom and presence. With keen insights into group and organisational dynamics, Francois facilitates conversations of consequence that generate more effective and collaborative ways for clients and their teams to work and lead together. Francois helps leaders draw on challenging experiences to explore their relationship to authority, leadership, and change. Integrating a diverse set of tools and approaches in and out of the outdoors, he helps clients expand their range of possibilities to engage their personal, organisational and strategic challenges.

Francois is a senior associate at Cultivating Leadership and an adjunct professor in education at the University of Pittsburgh where he prepares leaders transitioning to their next professional challenge. He holds a master’s degree from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. Francois is a wilderness medicine instructor, a WEA Certified Outdoor Educator, SOLO Wilderness EMT, an ACA level 3 sea kayak instructor, a Leave No Trace Master Educator, a Leadership Circle Profile certified practitioner and an avid American Avalanche Institute-trained telemark skier. Born in France, Francois has spent most of his adult life in the US. He currently resides with his family in the French Alps enjoying the beauty and introducing his kids to the delight of the mountains.

She has years of experience developing leaders through experiential designs and group facilitation.

Whether in a zoom room or on a travel adventure, she invites leaders to a love of learning about themselves and the unpredictable world in which they desire to make a difference. Joy believes the more time in the mountains, the better. While home is in Pittsburgh, PA, she and her husband and two kids are currently living in a small town in the French Alps where she can hike and ski out the back door and is learning to make bagels at home. She enjoys dabbling in art making, particularly lino block printing.
